UCSD Tae Kwon Do

What is Tae Kwon Do?
Tae (Kick) Kwon (Fist strike) Do (Way of life) is a Korean martial art that involves kicking and hand strike techniques. Although Tae Kwon Do (TKD) is similar to Karate, TKD places a stronger emphasis on kicking (including jump kicks) and self defense.

Who are we?
We are a Rec class at UCSD. This is the TKD class that has been on campus for several years and that focuses on the traditional aspects of Tae Kwon Do as a martial art. As such, the training is geared towards conditioning and strength building, self defense applications, and free sparring. Since solid basic techniques provide the framework for strong martial arts skills, we emphasize stancework and punching and kicking basics. We also practice the traditional (ITF) set of TKD forms.

When do we meet?
We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm in Activity Room 3 at RIMAC. If interested, please feel free to stop by and try the class out.
